How It Works
A Game Based Around Comprehension
You may notice that this bingo card is designed for native English speakers learning Spanish, but the words beneath the pictures are written in English. This is all part of the design. Unlike traditional bingo, where numbers and letters like “B-4” are read aloud, words are read in the target language (in this example, Spanish). Students are forced to rely solely on their listening and comprehension to correctly translate the word and identify if word that is on their card. After recognizing the word, they find and mark the matching tile, reinforcing their understanding both audibly and visually.

Many Ways to Play
You can play this game just like regular bingo, with the variations of traditional bingo (blackout, outside edge, etc.), or mix it up for more of a challenge.
Here are some options:
Teacher Reads in Spanish: Students listen and identify the word.
Teacher Reads in English: Students must say the word in Spanish before marking their card.
Remove Visual Cues: Students can turn over their tiles to hide the words.
Bingo Variations: Use traditional bingo styles like blackout or outside edge.
These variations keep the game engaging and help reinforce learning!
